Engineering Manager


About the role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead maintenance, reliability, asset management, contractor oversight and continuous improvement at our Ice Cream site in East Tamaki.

This hands-on leadership role suits a practical, solutions-focused engineering professional who can balance day-to-day maintenance demands with longer-term safety, compliance and performance improvements.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead planned, preventative and reactive maintenance to improve plant reliability and performance.
  • Manage asset strategies, critical spares, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee contractors, suppliers, service agreements, engineering budgets and capital works.
  • Ensure engineering activities support quality, food safety, H&S, environmental and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead, coach and develop the engineering team while working closely with production, quality and site leadership.

About you

You will bring strong engineering leadership experience from a manufacturing, maintenance or reliability environment, ideally within food, dairy, FMCG or another regulated production setting. You will be confident managing people, contractors, budgets and compliance obligations while taking a practical approach to problem-solving.

What we are looking for

  • Engineering trade qualification, technical certification, or relevant engineering degree.
  • Minimum 5 years’ engineering or maintenance management experience.
  • Strong preventative maintenance, asset management and reliability knowledge.
  • Experience in food, dairy, ice cream, FMCG or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong contractor, budget, compliance, communication and people leadership skills.
